    Lu Grossberg, She/They

Hi, I am Lu! I have a master’s in counseling psychology from The Chicago School and have previously worked in community mental health as a harm reduction addiction counselor.

My clinical work embodies a decolonial framework enriched by specialized training to support Latinx communities. This means witnessing clients from a person-centered perspective that reflects all dimensions of your culture, identity, lived experiences, and the systems that shape your life and relationships. The power of connection is a common thread in my work, valuing the impact of race, ethnicity, and identity. This provides a space to speak openly about privilege, race, queerness, and marginalization while untangling internalized shame and harmful societal messages.

In sessions, I'll draw on traditional therapeutic approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and Lifespan Integration, while adapting these modalities to fit your specific culture and needs. I view healing as a team effort built on an honest, respectful relationship. You guide the way, and I provide a helping hand by offering tools and cultivating a space built on empathy and attunement so you can authentically explore and understand yourself.

In our time together, you can expect to:

  • Build positive relationships with your emotions, feelings, values, thoughts, and behaviors.

  • Explore boundaries, self-care, and empowerment that honors your intersecting identities.

  • Connect with your culture, spirituality, and intergenerational trauma to help find purpose and meaning in life.

  • Slow down and de-center urgency to work with your body and nervous system.

  • Process grief, anxiety, and depression stemming from trauma, loss, addiction, and systemic oppression.

  • Learn how to better navigate complex relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners, including polyamorous or non-monogamous dynamics.

  • Find strength during burnout or overwhelm and reconnect with pleasure, hope, and resilience.

  • Break harmful patterns or work through addictions with self-compassion.

And more.

A little bit about me: my cat Katie Purric, and I are both new to Portland from Chicago! I love to collage, take slow walks, identify Oregon’s gorgeous native plants and flowers, and read about psychology.
