Betsy Malolepsy, She/Her

Betsy builds relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and equality. She offers an environment where you can explore your current needs and goals. This fosters the transformative effect of genuine connection and understanding. It requires a lot of courage to work with someone new in therapy. Navigating life’s transitions can be daunting. Having the space to pause, reflect, and reassess can have a profound impact on one’s ability to change. Feeling truly heard and seen can be powerfully therapeutic.

Betsy is a clinical mental health counselor in training whose theoretical framework is person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. This reflects her belief in clients as experts of their own experience.  While acknowledging the impact of systemic oppression, identity formation, and the search for meaning, Betsy recognizes that effective therapy prioritizes client needs.

Betsy's journey to mental health counseling has been shaped by diverse life experiences that inform her culturally respectful approach to client care. Her experience living and working in other cultures taught her the universal human need for authentic connection and the importance of creating safe spaces where people can be themselves. As a parent of three children, including twins,  Betsy has experience with the joys and frustrations of parenting. Supporting LGBTQIA+ friends and family has given Betsy an understanding of the crucial role of acceptance and affirmation. Navigating the loss of her mother to Alzheimer's has also given her a deep, personal understanding of grief and loss, enhancing her capacity for empathy and compassionate care.

In her time off, Betsy enjoys long walks, puttering in the garden, camping, and chatting with her kids and neighbors over a hot beverage
